Investigators say that a “short distance” from the school – James stopped her vehicle and made the boy get out – telling him he had to walk, or run, the rest of the way to their home – a distance of around eight blocks from the school.  According to police, the boy attempted to grab the door handle of the car, but the mother accelerated – pulling the boy underneath the vehicle and running over him with the rear tire. The child was transported to UAB by ambulance with abrasions.

“It was a miracle that he wasn’t hurt worse” according to the Police Chief, Michael Abercrombie.  According to court documents, James cannot have any contact with her son.
