Substitute Teacher Arrested for Engaging in Sex Act with a Student Under 19 Years of Age / From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has recently received a complaint that a substitute teacher possibly had inappropriate relations with a student.

That complaint was investigated by the Sheriff’s Office, and as a result of that – Stephanie Mechelle Woods, age 45 of from Henagar, was arrested – and booked in at the DeKalb County Detention Center – and charged with being a School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act with a Student Under the age of 19 years.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident:  “I would like to thank our Investigations Unit and also the Board of Education for their earnestness in getting this case taken care of.  Our children have every right to feel safe at school, and parents have every right to expect it.  Our children are our #1 priority, and we will protect them at all costs.”
