Cherokee County Man Involved in Fatal Car Crash in Floyd County, Georgia / Still Under Investigation

The investigation into a fatal crash that occurred on January 27th – and – involved a resident of Cherokee County (Alabama) continues.

According to Rome, Georgia Police – video evidence has been discovered that clearly depicts the crash scene in its entirety.  That crash occurred on Highway 27 South at Walker Mountain Road, and the video evidence shows a GMC Yukon, driven by 37 year old George Fowler of Rome, legally entering the intersection in preparation for a left turn.

As a Dodge Ram driven by 21-year-old William Frier of Centre (Alabama) approached the intersection, the traffic signal turned red – and that Ram struck the Yukon as it was completing its left turn.  The crash claimed the life of 59 year old Denise Howell of Rome.  Fowler and two other passengers in the Yukon: 59 year old Joe Howell – and also 61 year old Jim Howell were transported to the hospital.

The driver of the Ram was not injured.
