Marshall County Sheriff Addresses “School Safety” Concerns Following Thursday Arrest

Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims said Asbury High School in Albertville was placed on “High Awareness” levels after a potential threat Thursday.

Sims said Deputy School Resource Officers at that location became aware of what was being termed as a “potential threat” to the school early on in the morning.  A person, whose name was not released, has been taken into custody.

Afterward, Sims said “There is no immediate threat to the school – SRO’s and the members of the Asbury School staff were quick to take action to determine if the threat was substantiated – and to protect the school and students.”

Additional information is expected to be released soon.
