Staff Reports

Through multiple sources, WEIS radio has been able to confirm the Class 2A, Area 12 boys basketball tournament has changed its host venue and seeding following an Alabama High School Athletic Association ruling on Friday.

The ruling concerned Collinsville’s use of an ineligible player. The Panthers will now have to forfeit those area contests.

Gaston and Fyffe tied for first place in the area and had a new coin toss on Friday, which Gaston won. Gaston is now the area tournament host and will take on now-fourth place Collinsville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the tournament semifinals.

The other tournament semifinal features No. 2 Fyffe against No. 3 Sand Rock. That game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at Gaston.

The area championship game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The Class 2A, Area 12 girls tournament is unaffected by the AHSAA ruling. Tournament host Sand Rock battles Gaston on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The other semifinal features Fyffe and Collinsville at 5 p.m.

Winners advance to tournament championship game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
