Northwest Georgia Man Facing Multiple Charges

On Sunday (January 28th) at approximately 11:50pm – Chattooga County deputies were dispatched to Ballenger Road in the Gore area regarding a subject that had been stabbed.

They learned that the aggressor, the victim’s stepson – had left the scene on foot.  Deputies arrived and found the victim with a large knife, which had been pushed in all the way to the handle, still in his neck.   EMS quickly arrived, and they began to treat and transport that victim to an area hospital.

Deputies and Investigators – along with Sheriff Mark Schrader and Chief Deputy Kevin Woods – assembled a perimeter around that area – and the Hays State Prison K-9 unit arrived to assist in tracking the suspect.

The K-9 unit was able to follow a track which led north from the victim’s residence to another one nearby – and while checking that area deputies noticed a vehicle coming out of a driveway several hundred yards north of where they were. Deputy Ellenburg responded, and he intercepted the vehicle before it could make it onto the roadway and found that it indeed contained the suspect – who had found the truck (with keys in it) parked near a workshop, and took it in an attempt to flee the area.  That suspect, Christopher Martin Roberson – 35 – was taken then into custody without any further incident.

He was charged with:  aggravated assault FVA, burglary 2nd degree, theft by taking, and criminal trespass.  Sheriff Mark Schrader said, that at last check, the victim was still listed in stable condition.
