Mrs. Linda Ann Carter, Centre, AL July 9, 1943.
Linda passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 27th. She was born on July 9th in Rome, GA. She grew up in Dekalb County and spent her adult life in Centre and Cherokee County.
Funeral Services will be held 3PM Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the time of service.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam O’Brien and Grandson Colin of Pittsboro, NC
A special nephew, Shane Hale (Misty), Skylar and Easton of Sardis, AL
A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Janie Hale and brother Kenneth Cleland. Her Parents, George & Juanita Cleland.
Linda retired after 38 years with Peoples Telephone/TDS. She started her career as a Switch-Board Operator and retired as the Director for the Southern District.
In her time with the telephone company she worked her way through many departments and served as the Manager for Peoples Telephone. Linda was a true servant leader and gave back to the local community through service as the President of Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and President of the Business Professional Woman. In May of 1995 she was recognized by TDS Telecom with their highest achievement award, The Inspiring Excellence Presidential Award.
In 2005 the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce awarded her the Mary George Waite Spirit Award in recognition of her service to Cherokee County.
Linda was much beloved by her family and work community for her kind heart and giving spirit. IF she ever met you she never forgot you and you were forever greeted by ” Hello… How are You”
