Collinsville boys outlast Asbury in overtime

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers outlasted Asbury 61-56 in overtime in boys basketball action on Tuesday evening.

Jake Middlebrooks led the Panthers (16-8) with 22 points and seven rebounds. Dawson Cothran collected 12 points and six rebounds. Zach Clanton came away with 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and six rebounds. Gavin Lang finished with eight points and five boards. He also had a pair of treys.

Landon Bethune topped the Rams with 23 points, including five 3-pointers. Lucas Wyatt added 12 points. Jayven McCoy managed 11 points. Josiah Webber finished with six on a pair of treys.

The two teams were tied at 52 at the end of regulation, but Collinsville went on a 9-4 run in overtime to take the win.

In girls action, Asbury came away with a 37-15 victory.

Carlee Davis led Collinsville with five points. Karlee Middlebrooks and Gracie Griggs both finished with four points.

Daisy Zurita scored eight points to lead Asbury. Sheyla Pacheco and Vanessa Cruz both added seven points. Savannah Hillis hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points.

Asbury held a 7-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and opened up an 18-8 advantage by halftime. The Lady Rams led 29-11 after three quarters.

Both Collinsville teams travel to Valley Head on Monday.
