Closings & Delays for Wednesday, January 17th

Due to the expected extremely cold morning temperatures coupled with the wind chill advisory and hard freeze warning issued by the National Weather Service, several area schools will either close or be delayed on Wednesday, January 17th.

 

Albertville City Schools – closed

Attalla City Schools – 2-hour delay

Boaz City Schools – closed

Calhoun County Schools – 3-hour delay

Chattooga County Schools (Georgia) – 2-hour delay

Cherokee County Schools – 2-hour delay

Cornerstone Christian Academy – closed

DeKalb County Schools – closed

The Donoho School – 2-hour delay

Etowah County Schools: Carlisle Elementary, Duck Springs Elementary, Ivalee Elementary, West End Elementary, Whitesboro Elementary, Sardis Middle, Sardis High, and West End High – closed; all other Etowah County Schools – 2-hour delay.

Floyd County Schools (Georgia) – 2-hour delay

Fort Payne City Schools – virtual learning

Gadsden City Schools – 2-hour delay

Gadsden State Community College- 3-hour delay; all campuses will open for classes at 11am.

Jacksonville Christian Academy – 3-hour delay

Jacksonville City Schools – 3-hour delay

Marshall County Schools – closed

Northeast Alabama Community College – closed

Oxford City Schools – 3-hour delay

Rome City Schools (Georgia) – 2-hour delay

Snead State Community College – closed

Westbrook Christian School – 2-hour delay

Several local governmental offices and businesses will also delay opening.

 

Alabama Teachers Credit Union: Albertville branch – delayed opening until 10am; all other branches – regular hours

American Apparel – delayed until 8am

CED Mental Health – DeKalb County office – closed, anyone who has injection appointment today will be moved to same time tomorrow; all other offices – 2-hour delay

Cherokee County Offices & Cherokee County Courthouse – 2-hour delay

Cherokee County Public Library – 2-hour delay; will open at 10am

Gadsden Transportation – delayed; DART/Paratransit will run 8:30am to 3:15pm & Trolleys (all routes) will run 9am to 2pm.

Lily Pad Florist – will open at 10am

Marshall County Courthouses in Albertville & Guntersville – closed

City of Summerville Offices – delayed opening until 12pm

Trion Town Hall – delayed opening until 10am

Wills Valley Recreation Center – delayed opening until 10am

 

Faith Baptist Church in Gaylesville – no Wednesday night services
