This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the counties served by the National Weather Service Office in Birmingham.
Outlook through Tonight.
Severe storms are possible across all of central Alabama through 4 PM – and the main threat appears to be damaging winds up to 70 mph – with a lesser threat of quarter size hail and a tornado or two. In addition, sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected through this evening not associated with thunderstorms.
Saturday through Thursday.
There is a chance of wintry precipitation late Sunday night into Monday and again Monday night, mainly in northern half of Central Alabama. Some minor accumulations across the north is possible along with some hazardous travel conditions through Tuesday morning.
A very cold air mass will move in Monday night. Lows below 20 degrees will be possible Monday night in the northwest and then all locations on Tuesday night. Wind chills at or below zero Tuesday will be morning in northwestern portions of Central Alabama.
