- ROBERT (BOBBY) HANKS OBITUARY
With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Mr. Robert “Bobby” Clyde Hanks, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bobby, aged 63, departed this life on January 3, 2024, in Cedar Bluff, Alabama.
Born on July 30, 1960, in Marietta, Georgia, to John and Betty Hanks, Bobby grew up as one of seven siblings, surrounded by love and camaraderie. His life was a rich tapestry of family connections and heartfelt devotion to those he held dear.
Bobby’s life journey was shared for 38 years with his soul mate, Teresa Marlene Rickett Hanks, until her passing in 2018. His love for her remained a guiding light in his life.
Bobby is predeceased by his loving wife, Teresa, his parents, John and Betty, and his brother Frank Hanks.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, epitomized by his daughters, Amy Barnes (Hanks) and DeAnna Hanks (Willie), his cherished grandson Trayson Hanks, his chosen son Bryan Early, his brothers Doug Hanks (Debbie), Johnny Hanks (Kathy), and Kenneth Hanks (Pam), and his sisters Anita Gohley (Duke) and Linda Tucker (Bud), as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Also Debra Brown, a dear friend to Bobby and Teresa, filled their lives with laughter, support, and countless memories.
Bobby was a man of the earth, with a deep passion for the outdoors. His career as a skilled skidder operator, logger, and pulp wooder kept him close to the natural world he adored. He was a simple, honest man, whose love for his family was as deep as the roots of the trees he worked with. His laughter and smile were infectious, bringing joy and warmth to those around him. Bobby’s heart was always open, ready to offer help and kindness to family, friends, and even strangers.
A devout follower of Christ, Bobby’s faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and words. His unwavering belief was a source of strength and inspiration to many.
Bobby’s loved ones invite family and friends to join in celebrating Bobby’s life at the visitation service on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM EST/11:00 AM – 1:00 PM CST at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia, 30165.
Pastor Buddy Floyd will officiate and Christa Bates will honor Bobby with words, a poem, and a song The Interment will follow in the Hardaman cemetery Cedar Bluff Alabama.
Buster Hogue, Frankie McDaniel, Justin Holcomb, Willie Reeves, Chuck Mitchell, Barry Rollins, Mikey Marable, and Michael Hogue will symbolically usher Bobby into eternity as his pallbearers.
In Bobby’s memory, we gather not only to mourn his passing but to celebrate a well-lived life filled with love, laughter, and faith.
Rest in peace, Bobby. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved you.
