A motorist FORTUNATELY managed to escape injury, when encountering a HUGE tree across a portion of Highway 278 in Cherokee County around 11:00 last (Thursday) night.
That tree was simply too large for local fire departments to remove from the roadway and ALDOT eventually had to be called in; it took more than three hours to safely remove the vehicle from the scene. The Borden Springs Volunteer Fire Department provided manpower and assistance during the operation.
The incident took place near the Alabama/Georgia state line.
