Exercise Caution Following Heavy Rainfall Around Area

FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 11:15 AM CST ON WEDNESDAY

 

* WHAT

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected in certain areas

* WHERE

A portion of central Alabama, including here in Cherokee County.

* WHEN

Until 11:15 AM CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS

Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations may be possible

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Reporting gauges indicated elevated levels Tuesday – along the Chattooga River above Weiss Lake and this could cause lowland flooding along the Chattooga River above Weiss Lake.  Some locations that could experience flooding include the areas of Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville, Cornwall Furnace Park, Eastern Weiss Lake and also in Western Weiss Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

Turn around, don`t drown – when encountering any flooded roads.   Bear in mind, most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
