Lang leads Collinsville boys past Gaston; Lady Panthers also post win

COLLINSVILLE – Gavin Lang sank seven 3-pointers and finished with 24 points to lead the Collinsville Panthers to a 53-34 area boys basketball win over Gaston on Tuesday.

Jake Middlebrooks managed 13 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers (13-6). Eli Griggs finished with eight points, including a pair of treys, and nine boards.

Micah Merriman led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Peyton Morrison and Devon Green both finished with six points.

Collinsville claimed a 13-4 first-quarter lead and built a 23-8 halftime advantage. The Panthers held a 44-22 edge after three quarters.

In girls action, Collinsville doubled up on the Lady Bulldogs 40-20.

Gracie Griggs led the Lady Panthers with 15 points. Carlee Davis delivered 10 points and Bella Wills finished with six points.

B. Holland led Gaston with seven points.

Collinsville held an 11-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter and a 21-13 edge at halftime. The Lady Panthers extended their lead to 32-19 at the end of three quarters.

Both Collinsville teams host Fyffe on Friday.
