The Cherokee County Commission gathered in a relatively short meeting Monday morning.

First on the agenda were Chairman’s Announcements with appointments and reappointments – being made to the Cherokee County Public Library Board (three positions) during the Monday, January 22nd meeting – also on Monday, February 12th – to the Cherokee County Parks & Recreation Board (two positions) and, also to the Cherokee County Communications District (three positions) – and resumes are currently being accepted for these positions at the Administration Building.

The Commission approved the hiring of Wally Covington, for the position of an HMT-1 at the County Highway Department – approval was granted, to the FY-2024 Rebuild Alabama Annual Report – as presented by County Engineer Corey Chambers; the Commission entered into the record – the clarification that ARPA Funds would be used to fund the purchase of two 2024 Chevy Equinox vehicles from Donohoo Chevrolet.

Also approved, was the agreement for legal services as Bond Counsel, for Cherokee County, Alabama and also the Cherokee County Public Building Authority; also approved was a resolution and order authorizing certain action with respect to building revenue warrants of the Cherokee County Public Building Authority.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is set for Monday, January 22nd starting at 5:00pm in The Cherokee County Administration Building.
