Be Aware of Weather-Related Road Dangers TODAY (Tuesday, January 9th)

EXERCISE CAUTION in Cherokee County for Tuesday, January 9th

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, it’ll continue to rain throughout the day today, and possibly transition into some snow flurries this evening.  No accumulation or impacts are expected.   We’ve had reports of a number of trees being down across the roadways, due to high winds and heavy rainfall overnight.   According to reports – DeKalb County suffered much more wind damage than we did in Cherokee County.

As the rain continues to fall remember DO NOT DRIVE through any of the flooded roadways.  You don’t know what lies underneath the water.  The road could be washed out so make sure to turn around and don’t drown.  We’ve received reports of creeks rising and touching the side of the road as well as yards and low lying areas standing in water – which is about to possibly start coming across the roadway in several areas.

We urge everyone to PLEASE SLOW DOWN and ALSO EXERCISE CAUTION during this time.
