On Friday afternoon – Floyd County 9-1-1 dispatch received a report of a structure fire in the Summerville Park neighborhood. 

The Rome Floyd Fire Department quickly dispatched fire engines to that single-story home – located on Leland Avenue – where very heavy smoke was billowing out of the structure.  Firefighters knocked back that blaze quickly with no damage to surrounding residences 

Rome Fire Investigator Brenton Whatley confirmed the source of the fire was an accidental stove top, grease fire in the kitchen.  No one was harmed as a result of the fire.
