Huntsville Hospital Health System Acquiring DeKalb Regional Medical Center in Fort Payne

Huntsville Hospital Health System is acquiring DeKalb Regional Medical Center, a 134-bed hospital in Fort Payne.

Terms of the deal – which includes all related physician clinics and other outpatient facilities, were not disclosed.   That acquisition is expected to be finalized on March 31st – that, pending regulatory approvals.  In a statement HHHS (Huntsville Hospital Health System) made clear it is “committed to employee retention, and it has indicated that employment will continue for substantially all employees in good standing at the time of transition.”

Reportedly – the DeKalb Ambulance Service will continue to operate as a separate organization.

HHHS has a network of 13 hospitals across Alabama and Tennessee.  HHHS CEO Jeff Samz said “DeKalb Regional has a great history of serving its community so we’re indeed very excited about both working with this great hospital and serving the people of Fort Payne and DeKalb County”.
