Staff Reports

FREEPORT, Fla. – So far throughout the 2023-24 basketball season, the Spring Garden Lady Panthers have been pummeling the competition – even the bigger schools on their schedule.

But on Friday night in the Hilton Sandestin Beach Bash championship game against Class 6A Bradley Central of Tennessee, the Lady Panthers had their 22-game winning streak dating back to last season snapped. Spring Garden lost by the final of 69-47.

Spring Garden (15-1) trailed at each of the quarter breaks 17-10, 35-24 and 47-33. Ace Austin led the Lady Panthers with 34 points, including four 3-pointers. She also grabbed 12 rebounds and had an assist. Libby Brown finished with six points on a pair of 3-pointers.

Spring Garden looks to begin a new winning streak to open 2024 when they host Sand Rock on Thursday, Jan. 4.
