The Piedmont Police, Fire and Rescue Departments responded Monday – to the scene of a fatal accident, on Alabama Highway 21/Jug Hollow Road at 1:50pm (December 25th, 2023). The accident involved two vehicles that collided head on – a 2014 Nissan Murano and a 2022 Mercedes GCL 300. The driver of the Nissan was identified as Claude William Heard – age 78 of Piedmont and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Occupants of the Mercedes had injuries and were transported by the Piedmont Rescue for treatment.
The crash currently remains under investigation by the Piedmont Police Department with assistance from ALEA State Troopers.
