An Oakman man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Interstate 22 in northern Jefferson County.
The wreck happened at 5:44pm on I-22 in Forestdale. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, said 47-year-old Joey Johnson was the driver and lone occupant of a vehicle traveling westbound. For unknown reasons – his vehicle crossed the center grass median, and also the eastbound lanes – before striking an embankment on the side of the interstate. Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:51pm
The crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
