Cherokee County, Alabama Man Charged with DUI in Georgia

A 59-year-old Cherokee County, Alabama man was arrested – for DUI for Drugs after a traffic stop, in neighboring Chattooga County.   According to the report released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office that incident occurred on Tuesday of last week.  A Sheriff’s Deputy observed a driver on his cell phone, who nearly struck the patrol truck being driven by Chief Deputy Kevin Woods.   Following a traffic stop deputies spoke with that driver – who told them he was “only trying to get home”.

The deputies noticed signs of impairment, and the driver then submitted to field sobriety tests, which he failed.  He was then taken to a Rome-area hospital for evaluation and he was arrested on warrants after his release from the hospital.   Brian Neal Mason of Gaylesville – was charged with two counts of DUI for drugs, engaging in activities that distract from safe driving, and failure to maintain single lane.
