Johnson honored for 1,000th point, leads Lady Warriors past Etowah

CENTRE – Mary Hayes Johnson was honored for scoring her 1,000th career point on Tuesday. She also led the Lady Warriors with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, in a 54-22 rout of Etowah.

Nevaeh Gaidurgis netted nine points for the Lady Warriors (7-2). Audrey Haygood and Deannia Starr both scored seven points. Ava Haygood finished with six points.

Carlee Barksdale led the Lady Blue Devils with seven points. Aubrey Thompson and Vanessa Roden both finished with five points.

Cherokee County built a 20-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held a 32-15 edge at halftime. The Lady Warriors cruised to a 48-17 lead at the end of three quarters.

Cherokee County hosts Cleburne County on Thursday.
