System Highlights

  • Our overall system score of 86 is above the state average (83)
  • System’s overall score has improved on each of the past four state report cards
  • Our Graduation Rate at 93% continues to be a strength for our system.
  • College & Career Readiness rate (89%) is improving and higher than the state average
  • Academic Growth Score=92.51
  • Cedar Bluff School improved to an A (91)
  • Cherokee County Schools scored above the state average in:

  • While our Academic Achievement and Proficiency Rates continue to improve, we do have more to do to be the best we can be. We will continue to strive to improve student achievement.
  • Absenteeism continues to be a barrier to learning. We have a great opportunity to improve student achievement by improving our attendance rates. Reducing our number of Chronic Absentee issues and improving attendance will not only help us earn points on a state report card, but can directly lead to improved student learning and academic performance.

School Highlights

  • Cedar Bluff: Overall Grade=A; Scored 100 in Academic Growth, College & Career Readiness, and Graduation Rate
  • Centre Elementary: Highest score in the system for Academic Achievement (71); Academic Growth Score=100
  • Centre Middle: High Academic Growth score (94); reduced Chronic Absenteeism; improved Academic Achievement score
  • Cherokee County High: Improved Graduation Rate and College & Career Readiness; reduced Chronic Absenteeism
  • Gaylesville: Improved overall grade by four points; Improved College & Career Readiness rate
  • Sand Rock: Reduced Chronic Absenteeism; improved Academic Growth and Academic Achievement scores
  • Spring Garden: Academic Growth Score=100; improved overall score by three points (improved on each of the last three report cards); improved Academic Achievement Score

  • Academic Growth and Achievement scores are based on student assessments from last spring (2023)
  • Graduation Rates and College & Career Readiness Rates are based on data from 2021-2022
  • Chronic Absenteeism is defined as one who misses 18 or more days of school throughout the academic year including excused absences (that’s just two absences per month!)
