MONTGOMERY – After announcing its new alignments for the 2024-26 sports seasons on Monday, the Alabama High School Athletic Association made several adjustments to those new alignments on Tuesday, including to classes 3A, 4A and 5A.
Class 4A, Region 6 football – which features state runner-up Cherokee County – picked up Anniston while Munford and Cleburne County moved South to Region 3.
Region 6 now consists of Cherokee County, Anniston, Alexandria, Ashville, Etowah, Hokes Bluff, Oneonta and White Plains. Region 3 is comprised of Booker T. Washington, Bullock County, Cleburne County, Handley, St. James, Talladega and Tallassee.
Anniston was also added to Class 4A, Area 12 volleyball to make that a five-team area which also features Cherokee County, Alexandria, Hokes Bluff and White Plains.
Class 3A, Region 6 football – which features Piedmont – picked up J.B. Pennington to increase that region to nine teams. Other teams in Region 6 are Glencoe, Locust Fork, Ohatchee, Saks, Weaver, Wellborn and Westbrook Christian.
