SPRING GARDEN – Spring Garden boys basketball coach Levi Hatcher returned to the Panther bench on Monday night after battling a brief sickness, and the Panthers continued their winning ways by earning a 61-38 victory over visiting Saks.
Jake Welsh led the Panthers with 19 points. John Welsh and Chapel Pope both posted 15 points. Pope popped three 3-pointers. Connor Bates finished with five points.
Joshua Todd topped the Wildcats with 10 points. Dorrien Walker scored eight points. LaJuan Curry and Christian Smith both netted seven points.
Spring Garden led by a point at 15-14 after a quarter of play, then went on a 19-6 second-quarter run to take a 34-20 advantage into halftime. A 16-4 run in the third by the Panthers increased their lead to 50-24.
Spring Garden travels to Sand Rock on Tuesday.
