MONTGOMERY – The Alabama High School Athletic Association released its 2024-26 region alignments on Monday afternoon, and as expected, two WEIS coverage are teams are moving up in classification.
Cedar Bluff moves up from Class 1A to 2A. Their new football region – Region 7 – consists of rivals Sand Rock and Gaston, along with North Sand Mountain, Pisgah, Pleasant Valley and Section.
The Collinsville Panthers also move up from Class 2A to 3A. Their new region – Region 8 – includes Fyffe, Geraldine, Sylvania, Asbury, Brindlee Mountain, Holly Pond and Whitesburg Christian.
Other area teams remained in their traditional classes with a few wrinkles.
Class 1A, Region 8 consists of Gaylesville, Spring Garden, Appalachian, Ragland, Valley Head, Woodville and Ider. Ider is moving down from Class 2A.
Composing Class 3A, Region 6 is Piedmont, Glencoe, Ohatchee, Saks, Weaver, Wellborn, Westbrook Christian and Locust Fork.
The Class 4A state runner-up Cherokee County Warriors will now compete in a nine-team Region 6. Longtime rivals Alexandria, Hokes Bluff and Cleburne County will play the Warriors for the next two football seasons in addition to Ashville, Etowah, Oneonta, Munford and White Plains.
