Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Annual Awards Dinner
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office recently held their annual “Awards Dinner” at the Centre First Baptist Church. Sheriff Jeff Shaver with Chief Deputy Josh Summerford presented several staff members with awards for all the excellent work they’ve performed over the past year.
The Sheriff’s Star of Excellence Award was presented to Cpl. Mike Farrell for his work in training new deputies, and also to Summer Sutton for her precision work as deputy warden in the jail.
Three of the Chief’s Leadership Awards were presented to – Inv. Leigha Blake, Inv. Stephen Hooks and Cpl. Jonah Smith and extremely important Lifesaving Commendations were presented to Deputy Lexi Bishop and to Corrections Officers Breena Miller, Jon Poole and Jimmy Green.
The Corrections Hound Dog Award, for discovering the most contraband – went to Corrections Officer Michael Pruitt.
The following Deputies received awards for:
Most Warrants Served: Sgt. Brent Snead
Most Warrantless Arrests: Cpl. Daniel Holcomb
Most DUI Arrests: Cpl. Jonah Smith
Most Civil Papers Served: Dep. Brian Gilliland
Most Reports Taken: Cpl. Jonah Smith
Most Miles Patrolled: Dep. Zach Ellison
Top Shot: Sgt. Thomas Key
The Years of Service certificates were presented to – Lt. Jordan Kelley for 15 years of law enforcement service, Corrections Officers Rodney Givens and Bill Bishop for 10 years of service – also to Warden Sierra Wilks and Corrections Officer Sharon Fox for 5 years service each – to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Several elected officials also attended that Awards Dinner to show their support including District Attorney Summer Summerford, Probate Judge Tim Burgess, and Commissioners Randy Jones and Ronnie Shaw.
Sheriff Shaver stated – “We’re very fortunate, and blessed, to have such a great team. There were a lot of awards given, and our staff does work to help keep Cherokee County SAFE, each and every day.”
