Man Leads Trooper on High-Speed Chase
A 33-year-old Douglasville, Georgia man, was arrested on Monday of last week just across the Alabama/Georgia line in Chattooga County, after he lead a Georgia State Trooper on a high speed chase on Highway 27. According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol – a trooper clocked David Thomas Horner going above the posted speed limit on Highway 27 near Halls Valley Road in Trion. The trooper activated his blue lights, and attempted to make a traffic stop – BUT – Horner continued traveling southbound on and reached speeds of 126 miles per hour in a posted 45 mile per hour speed zone.
The report said when Horner was nearing Harrell Street he threw up his arms as if to tell the trooper he was surrendering. The motorcyclist then pulled into a private lot at the corner of Harrell Street and Highway 27. The trooper pulled out his service revolver and he ordered Horner to the ground, where he was cuffed and placed under arrest.
He was on probation at the time of his arrest for fleeing and attempting to elude, and he was charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude and multiple traffic violations in connection with the chase.
