Cherokee County Schools Regular Board Meeting

During the Wednesday afternoon Cherokee County Regular Board of Education Meeting, Superintendent Mike Welsh called the meeting to order.

The Board approved the revised Parapro Nurse Salary Schedule along with the contract with the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts.

The Energy Savings Carryover Budget, the Agreement with Keitha Segrest for CMS along with Personnel Action and Professional Development were approved.

The Council briefly spoke about current job postings.

With the Superintendent’s Update, Mike Welsh congratulated the Cherokee County High Warriors Football Team for making it back to back State Championship Game. They had an awesome season of 13 and 2 and ended the season as Runner Up in the State in the 4A Classification. He also deemed this Friday early dismissal from schools at 11:15. Superintendent Welsh really stressed and promoted attendance for school for all of the students. He also spoke about Phase 1 at Sand Rock School is close to being complete.

At the close of Superintendent Welsh’s Update, he honored two Cherokee County teachers. First, he lauded Rebekah Crane Kindergarten teacher at Sand Rock and also Jeanne Hatmaker from Gaylesville who teaches K-12 at the High School as Teachers of The Year for Cherokee County Schools. Both are now up to possibly be named Alabama Teacher of the Year in their specific category.

The next Cherokee County Schools regular Board Meeting will be Wednesday January 10th at 4 P.M.
