Seven Spring Garden Panthers recently earned Class 1A, Region 6 honors, led by Offensive Co-MVP Chapel Pope. The senior shares the honor with Winterboro’s Deonte Smoot.
In an all-purpose role with the Panthers (8-3) last season, Pope accumulated 1,555 total yards and 18 touchdowns. He ran for 910 yards on 121 carries. He was also 9-of-21 passing for 260 yards and caught 14 passes for 385 yards.
Joining Pope from the Panthers is John Welsh, Grey Simpson, Jacob Welsh, Connor Bates, Noah Barber and Tanner Ruark. Honorable mention Panthers include Clayton Sadler, Zane Edwards, Hayes Garmon and Jacob Dempsey.
Region champion Wadley (11-2) leads the team with eight selections, led by region MVP Jaquez Wilkes and Coach of the Year Shenan Motley. Joining Wilkes and Motley from the Bulldogs is Cortavion Lynch, Frisco Robertson, Brent Langley, Cannon Parrett, Jabari Burns, Ty Taylor and Dekevion Staples. Bulldog honorable mention players are Brock Baldridge, Nic Carlisle, Logan Murr and Tre Heath.
Ragland (6-5) had six players selected in Ethan Courtney, Luke Brewer, Drake Kay, Tacorion Soles, Brayden Byers and A’ron Lee. The Purple Devils also had four honorable mention players in Antwann Byers, Jagger Cox, Skyler Barber and Brett Sisson.
Winterboro (6-6) had five selections in Smoot, Brandon Hunter, Kaden Ponder, Dequarious Truss and Je’mareo Clegg. Honorable mention Bulldogs include Payton Hutton, Kenny Simmons, Kavarious Duncan, Bryan Waites, Carter Castleberry and Kh’Tyler Keith.
Four players were chosen from Victory Christian (4-6), including Shepard Sargent, Brady Hart, Cayden Brunson and Reed Martin. Honorable mention players are Dwayne Talley, Alex Hoggard, Phillip Brasher and Dylan Hollis.
Talladega County Central (3-7) had three players chosen in Jamier Duncan, Patrick Dosius and Dailon Keith. Honorable mention Tigers include Jhovi Cole, Javari McKenzie and Chris Smith.
Representing Donoho (0-9) is Hayes Farrell and Marcus Lawler. Richard Goad, James Benwith and Ethan Bailey are honorable mention Falcons.
