Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Arrests Man for DUI at a Lyerly Checkpoint
A 21-year-old man was arrested at a checkpoint located in Lyerly the day after Thanksgiving – according to a newly released report by the Georgia State Patrol.
State Troopers and Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies were conducting a checkpoint at the intersection of Oak Hill Road and Smallen Road when shortly before 1:00pm a vehicle pulled up at the checkpoint and a deputy alerted state troopers that he believed the driver was impaired. The man – identified as Jason Wayne Malone – told troopers that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day before going to work. After a field sobriety test, he was arrested and charged with DUI, and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
