WEAVER – The Spring Garden boys basketball team began its 2023-24 season with a 58-46 victory at Weaver on Monday evening.

John and Jake Welsh led the Panthers (1-0) by scoring 21 and 18 points respectively. Connor Bates contributed seven points and Noah Barber finished with five points.

Kaden Gooden led the Bearcats with 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Harper Williams netted 16 points. DJ Marbury managed eight points and KeShawn Allen finished with six points.

Spring Garden led at each of the quarter breaks. The Panthers held a 16-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter and built a 32-21 edge at halftime. Spring Garden maintained a 41-31 lead at the end of three quarters.

Spring Garden travels to Jacksonville Christian on Tuesday.
