City of Leesburg Town Council Meeting

During the Monday afternoon Leesburg Town Council Meeting Mayor Pierce introduced Ashley Langley from the CED Mental Health Center. She spoke about them hosting the Annual Youth Prevention Conference at Gadsden State Cherokee Campus on January 22, 2024 from 9am-11am. This event is offered to 7th and 8th grade students in Cherokee County schools at no cost. Marc Mero former WWE Wrestling Champion will be the guest speaker. The Leesburg Council appropriated $750 for this event.

The Council then approved an equipment purchase for Police Department Training for $6000.00 to be paid from the Police seizure account.

Two Council Meetings were changed in 2024, January 8 and July 8 will be when the Council will meet.

Investigator Hunter Brisendine Spoke to the Council about the need for annual magnet training recertification for searching cell phones at a cost of $ 4000.00 which was approved.

Both the cost of wiring the new storage shed on Lokey Street for $4100.00 and the cost of wiring the pavilion in the park for $3800 and the purchase of materials for shelving in the new storage shed also on Lokey Street for $900 were all approved.

The MYFI Hotspot for the Police Department was tabled.

The next Leesburg Town Council Meeting will be January 8th.
