Mr. Ronald W. Benson passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the age of 76.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 04, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Hardin and Mr. Harry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday, from noon until time of services.
Mr. Benson resided in Dayton, Ohio for many years before returning to Piedmont in 2008. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and spending time with Theresa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Hazel Benson; his sister and brother-in-law – Jimmie Sue and Wayne Ledbetter; and a brother and sister-In-law, Pat and Patsy Benson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Theresa Formby Benson of Piedmont; sisters, Charlene Tucker (Jimmy) of Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Mary Jo Davis (Harry) of Centre; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ledbetter, Greg Tucker, Jacob Tapscott, C.J. Savage, Brandon Formby, and Blaze Clark. The family would like to give special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, especially to Julie and Chris.
