Plane Crash Reported in East Alabama Monday Night

Etowah County authorities were on the scene of an apparent plane crash, in the northern part of the county, shortly before 6:00pm Monday.  Deputies – along with fire departments from Attalla, Ivalee and Gallant – were in the area of Rocky Hollow Cutoff Road.  A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson stated – a single-engine Piper PA-32R – had crashed near Northeast Alabama Regional Airport in Gadsden.

Reportedly, the pilot – who was the only one on board – was killed in the crash.  There is no word yet – on anything relating to any possible cause for that circumstance.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
