Guilty.
That was the verdict handed down on Tuesday afternoon, in the case of Desmond LaVonta Brown of Rome, Georgia.
He was accused of killing both, 30 year old Truvenia Campbell and her 18 year old sister Vanita Nicole Richardson back in May of 2020. That decision was reached by a Cherokee County jury, as that incident reportedly took place across the state line, here in Alabama.
Afterwards, he drove back to Georgia, where their bodies were dumped near the Etowah River in Rome.
Brown is currently facing either a term of Life in Prison without Parole or the Death Penalty, on the charge of Capital Murder in the case.
Following the decision, the jury was instructed to meet after the Thanksgiving Holiday in order to pass sentence.
They will deliberate and then make a recommendation to Judge Shaunathan Bell; the final sentencing decision will then be handed down by him.
