Lang leads Collinsville boys to season-opening basketball win over Gaylesville

COLLINSVILLE – Gavin Lang tossed in 27 points, including five 3-pointers, in leading the Collinsville Panthers to a season-opening 59-33 basketball win over visiting Gaylesville on Friday night.

Jake Middlebrooks added 16 points for the Panthers (1-0). Zach Clanton finished with five points.

Kyler Bradley led the Trojans (1-2) with 24 points, including five treys. Kuper Bradley finished with six points.

Collinsville jumped out to a 17-3 first-quarter lead and held a 32-12 halftime advantage. The Panthers extended their lead to 55-24 after three quarters.

In girls action, Collinsville claimed a 40-18 over the Lady Trojans.

Gracie Griggs topped the Lady Panthers (1-0) with 12 points. Caleigh McElroy managed eight points. Carlee Davis came away with seven points. Bella Wills had six points and Karly Middlebrooks finished with five points.

Gracie Dawson led the Lady Trojans with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

Collinsville led 4-3 at the end of the first quarter and held a 14-11 advantage at halftime. The Lady Panthers went on a 12-0 third-quarter run to take a 26-11 lead, then outscored Gaylesville 14-7 down the stretch for the final.
