Shop Around For Gas Prices For Thanksgiving Travel

With Thanksgiving just a little over a week away, many people will be hitting the road over the next few days. With that in mind, we’re on your side keeping an eye on gas prices here at home.

Clay Ingram with AAA says this time of year is when we see the lowest price point for oil. He says the demand is lower in the fall and should last until around January. We see a higher demand in the spring and summer time when more people are out and about.

According to Ingram, the state average for a gallon of regular gas is below three dollars for the first time in a while.

“We’re actually at $2.94 per gallon right now. That’s 20 cents per gallon less than it was just a month ago and that’s 37 cents less than it was this time last year,” said Ingram. “So, it’s going to be a very welcome site for people traveling for Thanksgiving.”

Ingram adds there are two things you can do to help keep gas prices down – one is using only what you need and the other is price shopping around for the lowest price.
