Sand Rock girls runner-up, boys third at state cross country meet

OAKVILLE – The Sand Rock cross country teams concluded their seasons at the AHSAA Class 1A-2A Cross Country Championships over the weekend. The Lady Wildcats finished runner-up to Cold Springs while the Wildcat boys took third behind Cold Springs and Hatton.

Coming off the Class 1A-2A Section 3 championship, freshman Anna King topped the Lady Wildcat runners by placing ninth with a time of 20:46.18. Her personal record time this season was 20:46. Freshman Abby King came in 13th (21:18.03) with a personal record time of 21:18 this season. Freshman Katelin Stiefel was 22nd (21:49.32) with a personal record time of 21:03 this season. Eighth grader Emma Swain was 25th (21:58.93) with a personal record time of 21:32 this season. Senior Christy Alred finished 31st (22:09.86) with a personal record time of 22:09 this season.

The Wildcat boys, also coming off the Class 1A-2A Section 3 championship, were led by junior Caleb Yoder’s fourth place time of 16:28.19. His personal record this season was 16:15. Senior Jack Noah Watson came in 18th (17:21.75) with a personal record time of 17:21 this season. Senior Ben Bruce was 26th (17:38.86) with a personal record this season was 17:38. Eighth grader Brody Johnson was 27th (17:41.53) with a personal record time of 17:41 this season. Freshman Elijah Hood finished 34th (17:59.32) with a personal record time of 17:32 this season.
