Warriors fall two spots to No. 4 in final ASWA football poll of the season

Following a 21-14 loss to Fort Payne on Friday, the Class 4A Cherokee County Warriors (9-1) fell two spots to No. 4 in the final Alabama Sports Writers Association high school football poll of the season. The final rankings were released early Wednesday morning.

Cherokee County opens the state playoffs at home on Thursday against Central of Florence at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WEIS.

Two other area playoff teams received votes for this week’s poll: Class 1A Spring Garden (8-2) and Class 2A Collinsville (8-2).

Spring Garden hosts ninth-ranked Coosa Christian (5-5) on Friday. That game will also be broadcast on WEIS. Collinsville is at Southeastern (6-3) on Thursday.
