HUNTSVILLE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors are headed to the Class 4A state volleyball tournament following a pair of wins in the North Super Regional in Huntsville on Thursday.

Cherokee County (33-16) swept Cordova 25-8, 25-18, 25-7, then outlasted Priceville 16-25, 25-20, 25-8, 22-25, 15-13.

In the win over Cordova, Nevaeh Gaidurgis delivered 19 kills, three digs, a block and an assist. Macy Lea collected 21 assists, four kills, two digs and a block. Ava Haygood added six digs, three kills, two aces and two assists. Libby Curry contributed eight digs, five kills and two aces. Ellisan Givens finished with seven digs and two assists.

Against Priceville, Gaidurgis gained17 kills, six digs, five aces and a block. Lea managed 31 assists, two kills, two digs, a block and an ace. Raegan Garmany collected six kills, three digs and a block. Haygood contributed seven kills, 19 digs, two aces, a block and four assists. Curry came away with three kills, three aces and eight digs. Givens finished with 12 digs and two assists.

The Lady Warriors will play Madison County in the regional semifinals at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Von Braun Center. Madison County swept Central-Florence and Jacksonville in other tournament action on Thursday.
