Coming off a 49-0 thrashing of Etowah, the Cherokee County Warriors (8-0) continue to be ranked at No. 2 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association high school football poll. The latest rankings were released early Wednesday morning.

The Warriors close out Class 4A, Region 6 play at winless Ashville on Friday.

Two other area teams received consideration for this week’s rankings: Class 1A Spring Garden (7-2) and Class 2A Collinsville (6-2).

Spring Garden hosts Ragland (6-3) in a huge Region 6 battle, while Collinsville hosts North Sand Mountain (5-3) in a key Region 7 contest with playoff positioning on the line.
