Sand Rock sweeps its way to North Volleyball Super Regional semifinals

HUNTSVILLE — The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats have clinched a spot in next week’s state volleyball tournament with a sweep of Mars Hill and Cornerstone on Wednesday in the North Super Regional.

The Lady Wildcats opened the regional with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-16 win over Mars Hill. They then defeated Cornerstone 25-9, 25-15, 25-14.

Against Mars Hill, Katelyn St.Clair collected 20 kills, eight digs and pair of aces. Zoey Handy contributed eight kills and six blocks. Chloe Stephens posted 20 digs and four aces. Rylin St.Clair accumulated 30 assists, three blocks and two aces. Bethany Davis finished with four kills and 15 digs.

In the win over Cornerstone, Stephens earned her 2,000th career dig. She finished with 12 digs and two aces.

Katelyn St.Clair came away with 24 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Rylin St.Clair added 32 assists and two aces. Handy had four kills and five blocks. Davis delivered five kills, six digs and two aces. Amber Day posted seven digs.

Sand Rock takes on Donoho on Thursday at 2 p.m.
