X-Ray Full Body Scanner for Use at DeKalb Detention Center

From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:

FORT PAYNE, Ala / Thanks to the NCIC Inmate Communications, we are the proud owners of a new X-ray full Body Scanner for the Detention Center.  This was at no cost to the tax payers as it was purchased solely by NCIC; that, according to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden.

Welden went on to say “this is a really exceptional addition to our Detention Center, because it’ll help ensure the safety of our officers and inmates with keeping contraband such as Fentanyl, and weapons out of the jail.  And the radiation is minimal – an individual would get no more than you’d get, spending a single day in the sun.”

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “We are thankful to receive this body scanner and all the benefits it will ensue for our officers.  They’ll be able to check an individual for narcotics or weapons without making any physical contact with an individual.”
