PIEDMONT – Trevor Pike accumulated 171 yards on just four carries and scored two touchdowns in leading the Piedmont Bulldogs to a 58-12 homecoming victory over Glencoe in Class 3A, Region 6 football action on Friday.
Before Pike got things going for the Bulldogs (3-4, 3-2), it was the Yellow Jackets (2-5, 0-5) who took an early 12-0 advantage on a pair of Brady Kitchens touchdown passes in the first quarter. His first went to Jayden Patton for 30 yards at the 6:16 mark. Colby Bishop hauled in a 7-yard score for the second. Pike blocked both Glencoe extra points.
Then Piedmont proceeded to score 58 unanswered points.
Hayes Gunn got the Bulldogs on the board with a 9-yard touchdown run with just under two minutes to go in the first quarter. Caiden Cardelli connected on the first of eight extra points to make it a 12-7 game. The Bulldog defense recorded a safety on a Glencoe fumble out of the back of the end zone. With 23 seconds left in the first, Glencoe’s lead was trimmed to 12-9.
Pike provided the Bulldogs’ next score on a 48-yard run early in the second quarter, giving Piedmont its first lead at 16-12. Gunn then scored on a 13-yard run, followed by a Dontavious Jordan 1-yard score. Pike closed out the first half with a 23-yard run, giving Piedmont a 37-12 advantage.
Pike opened the second half with a 70-yard touchdown run. Gunn added an 11-yard score and Jordan a 34-yard run late in the third for the final.
Jordan accounted for 64 yards and two scores on eight totes for the Bulldogs. Cole Wilson completed 8-of-11 pass attempts for 98 yards.
Piedmont travels to Geraldine on Friday. Glencoe is at Ohatchee.
