Third Fatality from Highway 27 Accident
An accident several weeks ago on Highway 27 at Scott Hill Road claimed the life of Lori McWhorter and David Lopez. Thursday morning, word came that another woman has passed away as a result of injuries she received in that accident.
McWhorter’s mother, Rachel Delaine Crisp, has passed away.
The accident back in September involved a 2006 Jeep Wrangler driven by David Lopez of Rome – and a Hyundai Sante Fe driven by Lori McWhorter. The Georgia State Patrol stated Lopez’ Jeep crossed the median, and came into the northbound lanes where it struck the Hyundai driven by McWhorter.
McWhorter was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lopez was pronounced dead at a Rome-area hospital.
