During the afternoon Cedar Bluff Town Council Meeting Workshop,Jamey Johnson with the Weiss Lake Improvement Association (WLIA) spoke to the Council about many different items. He told them about the Channel Marker and Fundraising for the Causeway Cleanup. They raised $20,000 last year. He told the Mayor and Council there would be $10,000 tagged fish and more than a 1000 other tagged fish. He said the WLIA wants to purchase a pile driver and place picnic tables at the State Boat Ramp. Cedar Bluff Town Council budgeted $ 1,000 to the Weiss Lake Improvement Association. They’re looking for Platinum Sponsors.
Teresa Crosby spoke to the Town Council about the Cherokee Battlefield. The Cherokee Battle Preservation Corporation purchased 54 acres of land where the Monument stands and the Streight’s raid Civil War Reenactment will take place with 50 to 500 people participating. There will be muskets and cannons on sight. The event will take place on Saturday, October 14 and 15th off highway 35 in the Lawrence Community In Cedar Bluff.

The Council Meeting began at 5:30 with a little heated discussion between Councilwoman Angela Ritchie and the Town Clerk Jennifer Runnels not agreeing about Ritchie not knowing about the last Town Council Meeting that lasted two minutes. This was a brief dispute.
The Council approved the Minutes and the Financial Reports for September.
The Police Report was given by Police Chief Jeremy Stepps. He told the Council that 46 tickets were written in September and there were seven felony arrests.
The Fire Report for September was given and 13 incidents happened. Also, the Building Report was given and 12 building permits were issued.
In new business the issue of lowering the speed limit on Sewell Ferry Road and Hidden Point Drive from 25 mph to 15 mph was heavily discussed. There will be an early meeting at the next Town Council. This special early meeting will be on Monday, November 13 at 4pm, in the Municipal Courthouse to finalize this new speed limit then the regular meeting will be at 5 with the workshop followed by the regular meeting.
