Man Arrested For Cashing Forged Checks Nearly a Decade Ago

A 60-year-old Norcross, Georgia man was arrested last week in Floyd County on charges that he fraudulently cashed checks in Floyd County almost a decade ago.

Floyd County Police stated that Deno Rene Lebrada had cashed  a counterfeit check for $8,475.15 at the Sun Trust Bank located on Shorter Avenue.  He allegedly wrote a check from Sweetwater Brewing Company to a “Kevin Riley”.   Labrada then presented an ID of “Riley” and cashed the fraudulent check.  Later that same day, Labrada went to a SunTrust branch on East 2nd Avenue and he then cashed another fraudulent check from Sweetwater Brewing for $9,989.60.  This time, however the check was made to a “Thomas Palding”.  Labrada again presented a fake Id with Palding’s identity being his own.

Labrada was charged with two counts felony theft by deception and two counts 3rd degree forgery for the fraudulent checks in Floyd County in 2014.

Over the past several years, Labrada has been charged with cashing fraudulent checks in other jurisdictions, including Polk County and in Indiana.
