Gadsden State to Observe National Transfer Student Week

Gadsden, Al – Gadsden State Community College’s Advising and Retention Center is recognizing National Transfer Student Week on Oct. 16-20 by hosting student transfer fairs.  The events will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17 in the Allen Hall Breezeway on the Wallace Drive Campus and Oct. 18 at the Cheaha Center on the Ayers Campus.

“October is a highly notable month for all students interested in transferring to a four-year college or university after winding up a degree at Gadsden State,” said Dr. Dana Davis, director of the ARC.  “This year’s Transfer Week theme is – ‘Full Steam Ahead!’ The fairs provide a great opportunity for all students to learn about various options available to them. The event isn’t only for those in traditional academic programs but also for the students who may want to pursue an additional degree after completing a program in a technical or health science area.”

Interested students are invited to meet with representatives from over 20 colleges and universities and receive information on admissions, scholarships, financial aid and housing.  Many colleges and universities provide an opportunity for students to apply for free during this time.

“If codes are required for those colleges allowing students to apply for free, those will be available from the ARC and Student Support Services as well as from college representatives at the transfer fairs,” Davis said.
